Hello lovers! im finally back after a much needed vacation and now I have some time to scour the internets looking for cool things once again. today's theme is stripes. once an enemy of mine, stripes have come back into trend for summer in styles that are totally cute and totally wearable. Hawaiian Dreams....

I can't believe theres only two more days until me, my sister and my friends are taking a trip to Hawaii!! This is the first time I get to show people around the islands, so I'm hoping there are places I can discover also. Summer in Portland has so far been disappointing with cold, gloomy days and sudden downpours and lightning. The forecast for Hawaii? 85 and Sunny. EVERY. DAY. Itll be hot, but that can easily be fixed with a jump into the crystal clear waters of Lanikai Beach and later a cool shave ice...oh I can see it all now. Expect lots of pictures when I get back! Over the weekend I felt like watching The Virgin Suicides. A movie about five sisters who end their lives is sweet and mysterious. I really love films by Sofia Coppola-they just are mirrors of real life: slow, slightly boring and involving real emotions that aren't always acted out. Lost in Translation and Marie Antoinette are exactly the same-quiet, unassuming but deal with feeling lost, misunderstood and will almost always have some kind of effect on you. I really enjoy films that aren't overacted, overproduced, but simple and slightly vague.

Today I read in the Oregonian that Saks Fifth Avenue next to Pioneer Square Mall will be closing soon and looking to take its place is...wait for it...H&M!!! I've been hearing rumors of an H&M opening in downtown Portland and I couldn't agree enough that it would be awesome for us forever21 slaves to have some other choices out there. Although a little up the price scale, H&M makes great party dresses and accessories that can be affordable if you know what to look for. Also looking to set up shop is Spanish clothing retailer Zara. I think this could be the trifecta of cute clothing shops in Downtown. Now if only Sephora would open up a store-I still can't believe they don't have one here! They'd make a killing...just sayin!
